![]() The checkpoints that the devs added after what they call players "whining" are also senseless, because they make you waste 10 to 30 minutes instead of hours of your time, and make you confused after loosing the orientation and awareness of where you are in the progress of your play-through. But I find repeating the same thing over and over because one of the devs has some sort of powergaming complex and can't enjoy a game a certain way without being forced to, to be frustrating, stupid and unfair. If the levels were fully randomized and the game beatable in one sitting, that could have been fine. It's a nice thing for a single run ironmode challenge, but as a default setting only serves to waste your time, something many people don't have an excess of. The only purpose that permadeath serves in this game is wasting your time on re-doing the same thing every time you stumble and happen to die. I understand the premises of permadeath and like it in many games, like dwarf fortress where every defeat is only a beginning of something new.īut it's a stupid idea for Exanima.
